After fifteen years leading the organisation our founder and current Chairperson, Frances Halligan, is stepping down from her role on the board as Chairperson.

To help support the charity’s work and allow us to continue to grow we are particularly keen to recruit a member of the local community in Bury, who has personal experience of mental and emotional distress, and the right skills to support the development of our charity.

We are a locally focused charity with a small well-established team of volunteers and staff. Our Board is friendly, supportive, and committed to our mission. Bury Involvement Group (BIG) is a small but growing charity, with the ambition to improve the mental health support available in our community. It is a registered charity operated as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Charity No. 1166584).

The chairperson role is a great opportunity for someone to lead the charity’s strategic direction, alongside the team and our beneficiaries, and to have a significant impact on the mental health support available within our community. Much has changed since our Organisation was formed as a community action group in 2007; however our commitment to make a difference to people’s lives remains as strong as ever.
